Chefs Guild of Maldives (CGM) hosted their annual general meeting on 22nd May 2019.
CGM is the first non-profit association established in Maldives to support the chefs working in the Maldivian culinary industry. The association boasts 120 registered members and last night’s general meeting was a success with 45 to 50 percent of the association’s members participating in making important decisions related to the association.
The annual meeting included the introduction of the annual report, election of new members for the executive committee, and constitution changes with evaluation.

Changes brought to the constitution include giving the executive committee authority to make a subcommittee and the creation of a Young Chef Club that allows young and aspiring chefs working in the tourism culinary industry, between the ages of 18-25, to join the association as members.
Some of the main objectives of CGM include to foster friendships, contacts and cooperation among culinary professionals and associated individuals and institutions in the Republic of Maldives. It also aims to promote the culinary profession throughout the country and increase awareness. Moreover, the association also works towards developing professional and occupational standards and improve training, education, technical knowledge and work ethics. It also supports the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies in their endeavor to create professionally trained hoteliers and Chefs.
