Thoha Saleem who has been the principal of the first international school of Maldives, Ghiyasuddin International School, for 10 years has decided to resign from his post.
After his GCE O’ levels, he first began teaching in the Atoll School of his island, Haa Alif Hoarafushi.
His education qualifications include a Diploma in School Management, a Diploma in Departmental Management, a Degree in Teaching and a Masters in Educational Management.
With more than 20 years of experience in the field, the reason for his resignation was to give more opportunities for new people.
When looking into his experience he has been the principal of Dhaalu Atoll School, Gnaviyani Atoll Education Centre, lhaviyani Atoll Education Centre and S. Feydhoo School. He has also worked as the assistant principal of Baa Atoll Education Centre and Dharumavantha School
He said that with the help of many people he was able to overcome the challenges that he had faced over the last 10 years. Thoha who joined the school a year before it was privatized in 2009, stated that the biggest challenge for him was to bring parents on board about the idea of a private school. He further stated that it was important to consider the opinions of everyone when bringing a significant change to the school.
He has not decided which field to pursue after his resignation which would be after the end of this school year. But he guarantees that he would put efforts to do beneficial things for the country.
With the decision for his resignation, Ghiyasuddin International School has now opened the opportunity to submit applications by individuals interested to apply for the position of the principal of the school.
